McComb-Veazey’s long-standing partnership with Lafayette Habitat for Humanity has been central to our neighborhood’s revitalization journey. Together, we have worked to bring residents’ voices and priorities to life, building new homes, strengthening leadership, and expanding opportunities for community growth. As McComb-Veazey residents take on greater leadership roles, Habitat has been a key partner in providing training and capacity building, not only for our neighborhood but also across Lafayette’s five coteries. Their support helps ensure that residents have the skills and resources needed to shape and achieve their vision for stronger, thriving communities.
We are proud to collaborate with a network of local Coteries, each committed to improving quality of life and fostering community pride in their neighborhoods.
The McComb-Veazey Neighborhood Coterie brings residents, churches, and businesses together to shape a shared vision for revitalization and cultural preservation in our community.
The LaPlace Neighborhood Coterie builds strong partnerships and community-led projects that improve quality of life and create new opportunities for residents.
The Oasis Community Coterie fosters collaboration among neighbors and partners to support community growth and neighborhood pride.
The Quiet Town Community Coterie works to uplift residents’ voices and drive neighborhood improvements through grassroots organizing and local leadership.
The Freetown-Port Rico Coterie honors the neighborhood’s history and culture while advancing community-driven development and resident leadership.
McComb-Veazey CDC is proud to partner with the Legacy Institute for Economic Attainment (L.I.F.E. Attainment)to empower youth and families through literacy and entrepreneurship. Together, we believe that strong communities are built when residents, young and old, have the tools, skills, and confidence to thrive.
This partnership focuses on:

Creating engaging programs that strengthen reading, writing, and communication skills while nurturing leadership and critical thinking.

Offering resources and workshops that help parents and caregivers support learning at home, creating a culture of reading and growth across generations.

Introducing young people and families to financial literacy, business basics, and entrepreneurial opportunities that build pathways toward wealth and self-sufficiency.

Connecting literacy and entrepreneurship to neighborhood revitalization, ensuring that families are not just participants, but leaders in shaping McComb-Veazey’s future.
Through this collaboration, McComb-Veazey CDC and Legacy Institute for Economic Attainment are laying the foundation for a new generation of readers, leaders, and entrepreneurs who will carry forward the vision of a strong, resilient, and culturally rich community.
